Childbirth Education- A Day Long Workshop Exploring Birth, Love and Evidence Based Care"We just took Kelly's day-long birthing class and wow, it was so wonderful! We really enjoyed having time to share special moments while connecting with others. Kelly really made all this possible and was lovely. Very attentive to everyone, knew when to take breaks, clearly explained complex concepts, respectfully expressed her opinion, and was warm and kind. We learned so much about the physiology of birth, stages of labor, hormones, and how partners can actually be supportive pre-, during, and post-birth. Highly recommend this class and Kelly. Thank you so much!" ~Alex P.
Topics covered in class: • Love and Relaxation: Guided relaxation, partner communication and the hormones of labor • Optimal Fetal Positioning: Preparing your pelvis and baby for birth • Moaning and Moving: Evidence based healthy birth practices, from vocalizations to opening the pelvic floor, breathing, massage and affirmations • The Landscape of Labor: Understanding the physiological and emotional process of birthing your baby, contraction by contraction • The Role of the Partner: Cultivating Trust and Safety and hands on skills • Advocacy and Collaboration: Positive Communication with Providers • Understanding Interventions: Build a toolkit for decreasing unnecessary interventions and increasing vaginal birth options • After-Birth: After Birth Options, The Micro-biome, Mental Health and The Sacred Hour Each class is kept to 4-5 couples as this allows for individual, hands-on attention from the instructor. We encourage participants to bring pillows, a birth ball, snacks and other items that will allow them to get comfortable and relax. We'll practice massage and positions for birth, so wear clothing that allows for squatting and movement! When to take the class? Class is best taken anywhere between 17 weeks and 38 weeks. The techniques you learn for breath work, optimal fetal positioning, and guided relaxation will only become stronger tools for birth the more you practice them. Sharing a common language for birth with your partner will enhance your pregnancy experience, validate your intuition, and inform your birthing choices. |
"This class was wonderful! Kelly is very knowledgeable, thorough and teaches the class with a nice flow - lots of interaction, q&a, discussion, videos, exercises to foster connection between partners, massage and pressure techniques for pain management, to just name a few things. We walked out of the class having a better understanding of what to expect emotionally and physically from childbirth. It was a fun and intimate atmosphere, and we felt that all of our questions had been answered. I especially loved and appreciated the focus on the partners and their role, and the focus on the connection between partners.
It's clear that she loves what she does and is committed to it. I highly recommend this class!" Angie Z., Mama, Sam Francisco
